First off you need to apply. Once accepted on one of our programmes, the next thing to do is fund-raise!
Most Pioneers raise their minimum donation within about two months, having all sorts of fun and making all sorts of connections on the way, with sponsored activities, charity raffles and events. Through such fundraising activities, Pioneers assist us to raise awareness internationally about the threats to the people and environment of Madagascar.
Azafady provides full support before you go
- Helps you reserve flights
- Gives advice about medication and inoculations
- Provides advice on medical and travel insurance
- Sends you the 'Survival Guide' packed with useful info from previous Pioneers
- Provides you with the back-up documentation you need to complete the visa application
- Advises on independent travel, as your three-month visa leaves 20-days free to travel on project completion
- Answers any pre-expedition questions - and we mean ANY questions!
Please note:
An information
pack will be sent to you that includes details on medical
preparations, insurance, visas, etc. Whilst making travel
plans is ultimately the responsibility of the individual
volunteer, we can assist you.
Info for Applicants from the US
We welcome and encourage interested people from the United States to join Pioneer Madagascar. We will do everything we can to make sure your travel arrangements run as smoothly as possible. Here is some information we hope you will find useful in planning your trip:
Flights
We book flights on Air
Madagascar from Paris to Madagascar on behalf of the Pioneers
which are then confirmed and purchased by each volunteer. We
encourage you to join your group in Paris in order to fly with
them on to Madagascar. Alternatively, we recommend Cortez Travel in
the US to assist you with making your arrangements.
Fundraising
We
ask volunteers from the US to raise the equivalent of £2,000.
We also emphasize that as long as the procedure is followed
to make your minimum donation through CAFAmerica, the minimum
donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable
under US law. CAFAmerica is classified by the Internal Revenue
Service as a charitable organization, described in Section
501(c)(3), and a public charity, described in Sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi)
and 509(a)(1). You are able to suggest that CAFAmerica make
a grant to Azafady. All donations made to Azafady via CAFAmerica
are 100% US tax deductible.
