| MADAGASCAR
FACTS |
Seventy- one percent
of the Malagasy population is below the poverty
line. This means that Madagascar is poorer than
Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Sierra Leone in these
terms. (1999 estimate UNDP)
A global poverty line
of $1 per person per day was suggested in 1990
(World Bank 1990). This means that the average
wage is not enough to support people or their
families. |
